DIFC DEWS: employer top-up rule for UAE/GCC nationals

A 2024 amendment to DIFC Employment Law No. 2 of 2019 added an employer top-up obligation for UAE and GCC national employees.
Where GPSSA (federal pension) contributions for a UAE or GCC national employee fall short by AED 1,000 or more per month compared to what the DEWS scheme would have provided, the employer must top up the difference. This ensures DIFC-employed UAE/GCC nationals are not disadvantaged relative to the federal pension scheme by being enrolled in DEWS instead.
